the a re-discovery of india

my bro had just landed from b'lore,, n first plan he had for the day was, to take our escapade n go for an outin,,
d season was rt,, the clouds which were for long impregnated with the most precious fluid ( for all life forms,,) was soon to be expectin a downpour,,, so we thought d best plce to b ,,was none othr than the falls of thriparippu,, abt 50 kms from d trivndrum city,,
we strted at abt 10 ,,,it was my bro who was piloting our space-craft((jst kiddin,, but d car does luk a bit like one from some angles,,being a quite an 'INNOVAtive design,, n so is d drivin exprnce)) i was forced to take d co-pilots seat, though not quite voluntarily,, there was music ,, to carry away the frustrations of the heckful traffic,, ,, aftr takin a left turn frm thakkalai,(,whch is a place along d nh-47,,d bordr b/w kerala, n its neighbour the tmilnadu,, ) on the way,, we slowed down near an old shack/shop to ask for directions,, but wen our realizations came dat,, it was one of d famous "murukku-kadaas",, we jammed on the brakes, n me n my foodie bro,,jumped out with the dual excuse of askin for d route,, but came back with about 1kg of dose fried items,,,,, den ,, d sound of "kurkure" added to the treble of the music system,,,
n den it wasnt long b4 we rchd d,, quite, exotic place,, but it was drizzling,, as we had wished ,, we parkd d car,, tuk our towels n swimsuits,, n ran for the falls of the less-than-30ft-tall water falll,,,
just as we had got ourlsvs stripped off,,our attenttion was drawn to a very crucial board---"bathin in j%$#*'s not allowd"
we ran for some cover ,,to not end up in jail.. had no othr option dan to gt our towels wet,,for we dint evn hav our shorts

the next 45 mins were like ----------standin beneath the jet of the famous water-cannon of the kerla police,,the VARUN ---so mch was the force of the watr fallin on us,, that ,,even if u hit somone hard on his head with a baseball bat,, he wouldnt realize it,,,but it was real fun,,
but ,,then it was time for us to ,get movin,, or else would hav been left with a bald head with all d hair on our head washd away,,,,,

bought some cheap souveniers n ofcours,, hot baji's from d shack like shops ther, (an irreplacable part found in all tourist locations under the tamilnadu govt..),,den started back with the intention of gettn home,,
but jst as we reached paarashaala,,found that the road to left wnt to kovalam via poovar,somatheeram,vizhinjam,etc..
wat else could we ask more for,, we took it,,
d first stop ws at d famous market of "uchakkada",,bought some organic vegetabls,,den movd on ,,n stopd on d bridg ovr d poovar lake,, njoyd the view of d still-green backwatrs of kerala,,, vch wer mostly,,not known to many people in our lil city.
den,,wnt through a lil,,a very narrow street ,,wher people lived morovr lik d famous dhaaraavi of bombay,,
but just as we squeezed our way to the beach thru the narrow gali's ,, we wer not mch surprised to find a platoon of police recidin there in a makshift camp,,(for thes parts are quite notorious for the communal tension, vch do erupt into violence quite frqntly,,)
we parked our car nr d bch,,n had to walk some distnc to reach d lagoon,,, dis reminded us of all d hardwork , p.t. Usha mt hv takn for all her honours,, but d moment we wer greetd by the serene beauty of d lagoon ,,a sand-dune seperating the virgin calm waters of the lake on one side, n d ever -persistent ocean lashing out its waves on dis dune ,from the othr side,,
a beautifull place,,, a must visit for all,,,,,,,,,,,it feels fortunate, that the dept.of tourism is not promorting it as a ecological heritage,,,-- or else we would hav had to see some kashmiris donning the beachline with their exclusive-for-foreigners shops,,
me n my bro thot of first havn a swim in d lake,, but jst as we jmpd in we found dat,,just as in veli,, the watr here also was saturatd vd diesel oil!!!! bt it was fun swiimin in d somwat deep chilling watr of the lake...........den,, thot of conquerin the waves on the othr side,,, it also seemd quite invitin,,,,,,,,,, n we both ran for it ,,n jmpd on to it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but wer shokd d nxt instant when ,, we wer thrown back ,vd doubl d force,,,,aftr being swirld around a couple of times,,,,,by d nrly 10ft waves,,,,,,,,,,,i was shaken n stirred up well...as i am ,most of d time i go ,for a "neerattu" in the mighty oceans,,,,
dese ones wer realy powrful,,,its not a wave vch comes blowin on to you frm abt 100metres away(for vh u atlst get time to run to safty),,,,,,it starts to take its shape wen jst abt 10 metrs away,,n comes n lifts u up,,,,,,swirls u mercilessly,(by d time u lose half ur consciousness)) ,,den spits u onto the everwet-sand,,,, den u lie der for a couple of seconds ,,tryin to get a notion of wat jst happend,,,,,,,den somhow u gathr up d strength to get up,,on ur hind legs,,,,,den realize d horror ,,wen, u find dat d next ones on its way,,,,comin flat out to u!!!!!!!!!!!
it wasnt long b4 we felt exhausted n longed to sink in back into d seats of our car,,but dat would be a long way back,,,a stroll back thru P.T.Usha's tracks,,, was rly diffctlt a task to walk on the sand in such a condition,,, i wish i had a landcruiser to move me over these sands,,,but dats only a distant dream..............
den,, drvivin along d coastal highway(just for namesake),,, stoped at d famous Aazhimala temple(at somatheeram),,,it was d time for deeparaadhana,,,,,n also time for the sunset,,,,,it was like being blessed by god with the dispersed beams of a setting sun,, immediately aftr offerin him our prayers,, n expressin gratitude,,for the beautiful sights he has left for us,saved from the destructive activities,,,,.............may these beautiful sights of this wondrful,,beautiful world ,,stay for ever ,,, for us,, n our coming generations to see n njoy,,,
n,, from ther,, we drove back,to our home,,,,,though physically exhausted,, but spiritually recharged,,,,,,,,with an episode of memories,,,,,,,,,,,,,
similar chaptrs of my experiences,, vch also quite faithfully help us to remind of the mother nature,,we live vd ,,, will be followed up,,,,,,....hope ,,any one who, wnt thru, dis chaptr would definitely want to conquer these exquisite spots..........

a preface

Friends
This blogspot of mine , as its name wouldnt exactly suggest , would be a travelogue of mine , through which i would like to share with you , a very few of my experiences on the move (via the not-so-well-asphalted roads) , exploring new places , locations , townships , exotic spots in and around our very own niche. I would attribute my craze for travelling, to my passion for driving. As I have been on the wheel ,right since when i was 11 years old , and when i was 12 , i took it on to the highways. And then , my drivin-guru , my dad, learned that he had made a mistake ,in letting me steer the one ton of steel-on-wheels, for then on, he hardly ever got to drive the car, when with family. Now , though positions have changed, cars have changed, roads have changed, my exquisite passion for taking a day off for a drive and travelling to unseen places has only been growing intravenously.

I would be posting the descriptions of my great epic tours in different episodes, though , not in a chronological order , for the sake of convenience. Hope everyone of you, who takes the invaluable effort of venturing into my adventures, would enjoy being in it, and wouldl help me by letting your criticisms , to be my suggestions .
